Action on Disability service users achieve IT essential skills qualifications



Service users from the Action on Disability Project received their Information Technology essential skills qualifications at a success of the West ceremony in Belfast City Hall in April 2011.
The academic qualifications were achieved by AOD service users through a joint working partnership with the USDT Essential Skills team over a period of 40 weeks and facilitated by tutor Ciaran Cahill.
Mavis Smith who’s daughter Gemma achieved her level one qualification said “It was a proud day for all the family”.
Service user Michael Fitzpatrick commented that “It reminded of getting his degree many years ago.
Action on Disability Project worker Leeanne Mulhern said.” It has been a fantastic achievement for all of our services users and it’s a very pleasing feeling to know I was part of the iniative”

OH MUMMY MIA


The very famous Tim McGarry attended his first rehearsal with the our very own drama group on Sunday 22nd May 2011. The drama group will be performing their unique Northern Ireland version of the hit musical Mama Mia entittled "Oh Mummy Mia" at the Grand Opera House Belfast on Sunday 14th August 2011 at 7pm.Tim who will be making a guest appearance was delighted to finally come onboard and learn his lines.Tim enthused"I think I have a bit of competition on my hands here I am going to have to work very hard to be the star of the show".
The show has been in rehearsals for the past 6 months and worked tirelessly over the past year on writing the script and perfecting the production.
OH MUMMY MIA rewrites the script from the famous hit musical and screen Adaptation of Ma Ma Mia and sensationally brings it to the stage with an added Northern Ireland twist.
When Billy, Sammy and Paddy are invited to attend a wedding on Cranky Island there chance meeting on a Northern Ireland Railways train brings the 3 characters together with hilarious consequences. Add to that the music of super group ABBA and the mum and friends from Belfast and all over Northern Ireland and you have a recipe for utter mayhem and fun. Performed by Action on Disability service users with guest appearance by Tim McGarry.
